>>>From a prospective employer's response:
>>>"our client has decided not to hire for this Visual Foxpro position as they discovered Microsoft will not be supporting VFP in the future. They now plan to focus on finding a C#/.NET person instead."

>>Now see, that just realy ticks me off!
>>
>>I mean, where do they get that from - think about it. Not from MS. when someone goes to the ms web-site all they will see is, that Vfp8 is supported untill 2010 and a new version of vfp is in the making. hardly a sign that vfp is dead or dying!
>>
>>so, they could not have gotten it from them. well, who else is there? now lets see: there are other 'customers' out there they could have talk with. but they are customers, and most of them don't know enough about that 'stuff' to make an educated statment to that effect (that's why they hire us - right).
>>
>>well, guess where those statments come from... well take a wild guess... hmmm, maybe it could just be that they got it form us?! and reading the messages here on UT lately i am not a bit supprised! I'll bet i you do a search on the "dying fox" here at UT you find enough to keep you bussy reading for a year.
>>
>>and that just p.... me off. i mean realy, we are the guys the rest of the world is listening too, and we are digging our own grave - that just leaves me with my mouth wide open, unbeleavable.
>
>Nope - it's the rest of the market. The only guy I heard personally diss Fox was a mid-level VB programmer, who tried Fox and couldn't code his shoelaces in it. And then there was Gartner many years ago, and... well, any merchant who is selling Microsoft's stuff is expected to boast his stuff, and denigrate everything else. And they will make more money selling more expensive solutions.

i am sorry, but i just don't agree. ja i know one of those guys, he is a C++ programer, tried vfp 3 i beleve back then, well i don't have to tell you the result of his findings. bottom line he stamped vfp as too slow, no good. well, i have been able to convince him now, that vfp has come a long way, and is realy kicking bud.

no, i realy beleve that the problem lies in our own ranks. i don't have to mention any names, you all know that there are plenty of those people here at ut which keep saying that the foxes days are numbered. and what do you think they'll tell their customer/bosses when the conversation goes in that direction?!
