>I read Dave's post and nowhere do I see a single insult. What I do see is his take on where he sees those in the guru community going. My guess is that you infer an insult by thinking what Dave is saying that becasue in his mind - the best and brightest have moved on - that must mean what is left over is not so good.

The statement "if the best and brightest have moved on" does directly and implicitly mean "whats left over is not so good". If the "best" is gone then whats left must be less than "best". How can you possible interpret this in any other way?

>Simply put - he is not saying that - at leat - that is not my interpretation. I think you would agree that if you took a few years ago as a starting point - and now look at today to see who is doing what - a good number of those who would be considered at the top - have moved on.

John, once again in an attempt to try and find any and all arguments to bolster you pov you so completely miss the point yourself.

That some in the "guru" community have moved on does not mean that there are not many many "gurus" still staying around. The difference is that the gurus that have "moved on" are tool vendors and hence make themselves visible to the community at large. They have so called "moved on" in order to sell more of their tools and their decision has probably little to do with which tool is better but much more to do with where they can make more money. Good for them.

Neil's point is that there are still guru's in this (and any other) community that produce awesome products and systems that you might never ever hear about. Does that mean that the "best minds" have left the community? No, it means you didnt even know who some of the best minds were/are and probably, because of the nature of their work, you never will. They are not tool vendors or book sellers so you will not see them in the guru spotlight.

In this forum alone there are many "gurus" who, as far as I know, are not selling tools or books but nonetheless have knowledge far surpassing most others in the community.
In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends - Martin Luther King, Jr.
