Here is a reference to this issue on the Crystal web site.

It will be useful to know if someone has an answer to your qustion: "I just wondered if there was a work-around for those printers that do not have UNICODE".

So what should you tell a user whose Crystal 9 report is printing garbage?

Other printers print garbage. From the Crystal Knowledgebase, they acknowledge that CR9 uses UNICODE. I contacted Kyocera Mita (one of the printers that printed garbage), and they said they have now added UNICODE to their print driver. I just wondered if there was a work-around for those printers that do not have UNICODE.

I understand that Crystal 9 used Unicode and that is where the problem is, i.e, if the print driver does not use Unicode, garbage appears on the report. Example printer: Kyocera Mita prints garbage.
