That includes speaking with the people here in the U.S. from Mexico and Puerto Rico, Latin American countries, as well as government officials in Argentina, Panama, El Salvador (well of course you have to consider where the government officials derive from in some cases), Honduras, and Costa Rica. I have always heard de nada. It is interesting to learn that it should be por nada. I will try that out with some of my friends and see what if they even notice it when I start using that phrase...

I use it all the time and seldom get any comments. But everybody I know uses 'de nada'. But you see why it is the incorrect preposition, don't you?

It's not that important anyway.
