The sanctions did NOT work. They have been finding additional wmds in limited quantities, even though they are only spot checking a few locations. The oil for food program was in full play and the ultimate goal was to line enough foreign government politicians pockets with money so as to be able to garner their support. Germany and France have many power brokers who were heavily involved and made millions of this program. Kinda helps you understand why they didn't want us to attack Iraq, doesn't it?

Well, the latest report postulated that some of the CWs were moved into Syria. Also, it should be noted that only a fraction of a fraction of the sites were investigated. Here's an excerpt from the Duelfer report:

CW munitions. ISG investigation, however, was hampered
by several factors beyond our control. The scale
and complexity of Iraqi munitions handling, storage,
and weapons markings, and extensive looting and
destruction at military facilities during OIF significantly
limited the number of munitions that ISG was
able to thoroughly inspect.

• ISG technical experts fully evaluated less than one
quarter of one percent of the over 10,000 weapons
caches throughout Iraq, and visited fewer than ten
ammunition depots identified prior to OIF as suspect
CW sites.

So, was he a threat to the thousands of people whose bodies have been found in mass graves? Are you of the opinion that he only knew Ben Laden casually? Saddam ran the country with an iron fist and had his scientist working to develop sarin gas. I know you know how deadly that is.
As for their army's capabilities, we don't have to apoligize because we are better equipped, better trained, and therefore the best military in the world. Peace through strength. A bully never picks on a strong man, only the weak.
