My general procedure so far is running CCleaner, Kazaabegone, CWShredder, HijackThis, Spybot, AdAware, and then installing and configuring SpySweeper, which has a great Malware shield. After that, I make sure to run Windows Updates, MSconfig, a virus scan. I also do these steps on every username on the PC. I also try to do most of this in Safe Mode. If I find intances of pain-in-the-rear malware such as bonzai or bargain buddy, I usually google up a removal procedure.
