Thanks for the quick response.

I know nothing about Visual Source Safe, but gather from your mentioning SccText.prg that VFP does all of the work shaping the files into something VSS can use - Do I need to let Foxpro manage Visual Source Safe to have the conversion take place automatically/seamlessly? If this is true, then it looks like I can't just invoke a file comparison in VSS, I would need to first set up the Fox Project and then could use the VSS comparator? I'm gathering that VSS isn't aware of the type of project it's dealing with.
If there were two copies of a file(e.g., scx or vcx), would both copies have to be checked in prior to comparison?
