Yeah, like pigs and sheep are relatives because they both get cooked and eaten :-) French comes from the Latin-based languages, like Italian, Spanish (and half of English!!!). Can't say where Russian comes from but I bet its originators never wore togas :-). I think many languages have the two forms (including English) - German, for one, has Du und Zie.
