counter>The numerator of the fraction counts up with every new message I recieve. If I read the message or not has no influence on the number shown in the numerator. The nominator clearly shows the count of messages in the Replies view not moved to READ.

The refresh on top is based on a 60-second interval. So, the updated counter, which will go lower, if you read a message which is a reply to you, might take a few seconds before it is refreshed.
Otherwise, there would be something not working. For me, when I click on a message which is a reply to me, or if I click on Replies, this will lower or reset the counter, the one in red, on the next refresh.
