Get the word out.
Here are Tamar's abstracts:
Title: Building Queries in Visual FoxPro
Abstract: VFP 8 features major improvements in the Query Designer and View Designer that make it useful for a far wider range of queries than in previous versions. This session will look at those changes, as it digs into some queries that are hard to get right the first time, such as those involving "multiple unrelated siblings" and filtered outer joins.
Attendees will learn how to create complex joins using the Query/View Designer, how to solve the "multiple unrelated siblings" problem, what outer joins are and some related traps and the rules for created UNIONed queries.
Title: Getting Started with Office Automation
Abstract: Automation lets you drive one application from another. The Microsoft Office applications can be run from within Visual FoxPro to provide tools for reporting, presentations, graphing and more.
This session introduces the tools needed to get started with automation and to learn about automating the Office applications. It looks at ways to explore the Office object models, including the VBA Help files, the Macro
Recorder, the Object Browser and VFP's IntelliSense feature. It also examines the differences between VBA code and the Visual FoxPro code you write to automate the Office apps. Finally, it explores some of the Visual FoxPro code and tools that aid in writing automation code.
For the evening UG session, Ms Granor will present whichever of the following we ask for.
Title: Making the most of the Toolbox
Abstract: The Toolbox offers a marriage of the Form Controls Toolbar and the Component Gallery. In this session, we'll dig into this new tool and show how to use it effectively. You'll learn how to organize your classes, how to specify what's displayed at any time, and other tricks for customizing the Toolbox.
Attendees will learn how to use the Toolbox to add controls to forms and classes, create custom categories to organize the Toolbox, add their own classes to the Toolbox, add text and scripts to the Toolbox to simplify development, and set properties automatically as controls are added to forms and classes.
Title: Putting the Task Pane Manager to Work
Abstract: The Task Pane Manager included in VFP 8 offers a wide variety of possibilities for customizing your working environment. This session will show you how to use the task panes supplied by Microsoft, how to add third-party panes, and how to build and distribute your own panes.
Attendees will learn how to add tools to the Start pane, set up environments to make it easy to switch between projects, customize the supplied task panes, install third-party task panes, build their own task panes.
